Amazon Ads Agent Puts Campaign Operations Into Chat. Your Budget Is Next.
Amazon has combined its advertising tools under Amazon Ads Agent, bringing conversational AI closer to media planning, targeting, performance analysis and campaign execution. Buyers could spend less time navigating dashboards, but the most powerful chat capabilities remain in beta.
THE SHORT VERSION
The change: Amazon Ads Agent unifies sponsored ads, full-funnel campaigns and display, video and audio advertising with expanding natural-language tools.
The stakes: Planning and optimization could become faster, while more spending decisions depend on Amazon's own recommendations and measurement.
Your move: Check eligibility, test AI recommendations against existing campaigns and require evidence before moving budget.

Every dashboard: “That customer was mine.” Finance: “Show your working.”
01 / WHAT HAPPENED
The facts before the hot take
On September 29, 2026, Amazon introduced Amazon Ads Agent, the new name for its unified advertising platform.
Previously, advertisers relied on separate advertising-console and demand-side-platform workflows, with conversational AI assisting selected tasks. Amazon's new direction connects three major campaign types: sponsored ads, Full-Funnel Campaigns, and Display, Video and Audio advertising.
The expanded chat experience lets eligible advertisers ask for reach forecasts, audience recommendations, performance analysis and Sponsored Products optimization guidance. Some supported recommendations can lead directly to campaign changes.
Amazon also launched Full-Funnel Campaigns in US open beta, allowing advertisers who sell on Amazon to coordinate formats and budgets through one AI-powered campaign.
Meanwhile, DVA+, which simplifies programmatic display, video and audio buying, remains in US closed beta, with open beta expected in late October.
The broader conversational experience is available only to eligible closed-beta advertisers across supported markets, including India, the US and the UK. Availability varies by marketplace, language and campaign type.
Status: Unified platform announced; conversational tools in closed beta; Full-Funnel Campaigns in US open beta.
Checked: 13 October 2026.
02 / FOLLOW THE MONEY
Why a media buyer should care

Amazon's advantage is not simply its chatbot. It is the shopping, browsing and streaming information behind the recommendations.
Advertisers can ask about audiences, forecast reach and investigate campaign performance without manually moving between every report and setting. That could reduce operational work and make broader media planning accessible to smaller teams.
But there is a financial trade-off.
When Amazon recommends additional reach, higher bids or new formats, advertisers need to understand whether the change produces incremental customers or merely captures purchases that might have happened anyway.
For example, a brand could move part of its sponsored-ads budget into Full-Funnel Campaigns and see more attributed sales. That does not automatically establish that the investment generated additional profit.
Amazon's Long-Term Sales metric also includes estimated future customer value, which should not be confused with cash already earned.
The useful question is whether better automation improves contribution margin and customer acquisition, not just reported return on ad spend.
THE MEME, TRANSLATED
The family WhatsApp group has a new financial adviser.
Picture the relative who confidently recommends buying something because everyone else is buying it. Amazon Ads Agent is the considerably more sophisticated version: it has data and can recommend where the money goes. The media buyer still needs to ask whether the advice makes financial sense.
03 / THE TRADE

What to do next
Check: Confirm Amazon Ads Agent access and identify which conversational planning, analytics and optimization capabilities are enabled. Record your current campaign ROAS, acquisition costs, spend and new-to-brand customer share.
Test: Choose one eligible campaign and compare AI recommendations against your existing manual approach. Keep budget exposure limited, review material changes before applying them and measure customer quality alongside attributed sales.
Decide: Expand usage only when it saves meaningful operating time or improves business outcomes without weakening cost efficiency. If access is unavailable, retain the baseline and request beta eligibility through your Amazon Ads representative.

ORBIT’S TAKE
Amazon is making media buying easier to operate. That doesn't automatically make it easier to justify.
Connecting campaign planning, retail signals and optimization in one conversational interface could be genuinely useful, particularly for advertisers managing multiple formats. But the platform recommending an investment is also selling the media and measuring its results. Buyers should welcome the convenience while keeping independent performance checks. The robot can build a compelling media plan. Finance will still ask where the incremental profit went.
