WHAT HAPPENED?

Amazon has launched Alexa+ Agentic Ads, a new format that lets people see an ad, ask questions, compare options and complete a transaction without leaving the Alexa+ conversation.

The format launched on Echo Show devices with initial partners including Papa Johns and concert-ticket experiences for artists including Beck, Jill Scott and Omar Courtz.

The ad can now complete the task it was advertising.

1. WHAT AMAZON ACTUALLY CHANGED

Traditional digital advertising normally hands the customer somewhere else.

Ad → click → landing page → product page → checkout.

Alexa+ Agentic Ads can compress those steps into one conversation.

A customer can ask about pricing or availability, choose an option and authorize the purchase without leaving the experience.

Amazon is also applying agentic AI to the advertiser side.

  • Asset creation tool

  • Campaign management assistant

  • Amazon Ads integration

  • Natural-language control

Amazon is therefore adding agents on both sides of the transaction.

2. WHY IT MATTERS FOR ADVERTISERS

The important shift is simple:

Digital advertising has spent decades optimizing the click.

Better CTR.

Better landing pages.

Lower bounce rates.

Faster checkout.

Agentic advertising raises a different possibility:

What if the click disappears because the ad can complete the customer's task itself?

That would change what advertisers optimize around. Landing-page visits become less meaningful when discovery, consideration and purchase can happen before a landing page is ever loaded.

The more useful measures become completed orders, transaction value, completion rate and ultimately incremental revenue.

It is still early. Alexa+ Agentic Ads currently have limited distribution and initial partners, and advertisers are still working through questions around measurement and transaction performance.

But the model is important.

3. Here’s an Explainer!

Imagine someone asks Alexa for dinner ideas.

A sponsored pizza option appears.

Instead of sending the user to a website, Alexa can answer questions about sizes, toppings and pricing.

The customer chooses a large pepperoni, confirms the order and completes the transaction.

No landing page.

No checkout page.

No traditional click-through funnel.

For the advertiser, the question changes from:

“How many people clicked?”

to:

“How many conversations became completed orders?”

THE SIGNAL

4. WHAT ADVERTISERS SHOULD DO

Start thinking about transaction inputs, not just advertising creative.

Pricing, availability, product options, offers and structured information need to be accurate if an AI agent is expected to answer questions and complete purchases.

Measurement also needs another look.

Advertisers testing these formats should understand how completed transactions, order value, abandonment and attribution are reported before judging success through familiar click metrics.

And don't throw away the landing page.

Agentic commerce is still early and limited. The immediate task is to understand which customer journeys can realistically be shortened, and whether shortening them actually improves the economics.

ORBIT. TODAY’s TAKE

Advertisers have spent years trying to make the journey after the click better.

Amazon is asking whether parts of that journey need a click at all.

The next generation of ads may not send people somewhere. They may finish the job.
